The Biden administration forgives $39 billion of student loan debt
Over 800,000 people who’ve had their loans for 20-25 years are going to get some or all of their balances cleared. For some, it happens automatically. But some people might need to consolidate.Who should consolidate?
Got multiple loans with different timelines? Then you’re almost definitely going to want to consolidate. Doing this will give you credit towards forgiveness based on the oldest loan you have. So it often brings you closer to forgiveness under the IDR WaiverMore on the new SAVE plan
AKA, “the most affordable repayment plan ever”. This is going to automatically replace the old REPAYE plan—it doesn’t add a new one to the mix.
