• ❌Biden’s $20k forgiveness plan was struck down
  But it’s not as bad as it sounds. The Biden administration has already done three things to cushion the blow for borrowers:

  • They’re opening up alternative paths to debt relief for middle and working-class borrowers.

  • They’ve finalized the most affordable income-driven repayment plan ever, called SAVE (Saving on Valuable Education). For many borrowers, this will lower monthly payments by up to half. And this plan will be available by summer, before payments restart.

  • They’re ensuring that financially vulnerable borrowers won’t be punished for missing payments for 12 months.
