šŸ˜Ø The IDR Waiver Is Under Attack?!

Welcome to the 64 new readers this week!

They've joined 7,855 readers getting no b.s. student loan news.

Hey ,

Howā€™re you doing this week?

I just got back home after a long time on the road. But just when I think things are calming down, conservatives slap another lawsuit on Bidenā€™s latest forgiveness bill. Never a dull day, I swearā€¦.

Letā€™s dive into the top stories:

  • šŸ˜Ø Conservatives try to block the IDR Waiver

  • šŸ¤” Can discharged loans be reversed by congress?

  • šŸ” Why you should buy a house BEFORE paying off your loans

  • And moreā€¦

Go ahead and pour yourself something, take a seat, and hit play šŸ‘‡

šŸ” No time to watch? Hereā€™s the low down:

  • šŸ˜ØIs the IDR Waiver at risk? (Spoilerā€”probably not)

On Friday, a conservative group from Michigan filed a lawsuit against the IDR Waiver. I know this sounds scary, especially after the Supreme Court just shot down Bidenā€™s $20k forgiveness plan. But donā€™t worryā€”this time, itā€™s different. And Iā€™m confident the IDR Waiver is safe.

  • šŸ¤”Can congress reverse loans that have already been forgiven?

Itā€™s possible, sure. Itā€™s also possible that weā€™ll all get struck by lightning tomorrow. But is it probable? Absolutely not.

  • āÆļø Video: Reasons to buy a house BEFORE paying your loans

This might sound reckless. Itā€™s a hot take for sure. But I want to debunk the idea that you have to put your entire life on hold until you pay your debts. That narrative sucks. So if debtā€™s holding you back from buying house, watch this.

  • ā³ Two weeks left to complete the survey and win $50
Weā€™ll announce the 3 winners in a couple weeks (I accidentally said ā€œnext weekā€ in the video, my bad) after we close the survey. Iā€™ll be forever grateful if you filled this out for me.

  • šŸ—£ļø Community question: how do I count my credit towards forgiveness?
Honestly, the simplest way to check this is through my TXT File Reader. This might sound like a shameless plug, but trust meā€”it is the best tool out there right now. And itā€™s free. It transforms your Student Aid data file into a beautiful loan-by-loan breakdown, showing time spent in repayment, forbearance, and deferment. This makes it way easier to calculate how long youā€™ve got left til forgiveness.
